In that situation John Maracheck wakes up from his long sleep in stasis, the alter-ego of the player in STASIS, which names the game.
Desperate to return to his family, alone and disoriented, John is forced to explore the dark space station, slowly discovering with the player what happened there: scientific experiments with humans or illegal covert investigations making it clear that nothing good was brewing in the STASIS spaceship ... but still an even greater horror and a mystery still await.
